Recovery starts with connection.
He spent a week here with us completely sober. He looked so much healthier physically when I dropped him off at DIA yesterday. I have no idea if his sobriety will continue now that he’s back home. But for the first time in some time, he has some hope that it may.
Tools for Connection
The art of connection is a lifelong practice that we can always build and get better at. Even if you feel disconnected now, that doesn’t always have to be your story. With a little practice and a willingness to stay real with others, you can start to build your own unique brand of connection, one step at a time.
Sick of setting resolutions that fail?
Resolutions are a great starting point for change, but on their own, they’re really tough to stick to. We’ve all been there…setting an awesome resolution on New Year’s and then totally forgetting about it by February. Why is this?

Guilt and shame are toxic
As a non-profit, we’ve learned that our community is pretty amazing. We know it can be a place where people feel safe; where no one feels guilt, shame or ultimatums around asking for help with substance use problems.

We can all probably remember a time when we’ve gotten super inspired by what someone else has accomplished or experienced. This is totally true for recovery as well. When we can lean into the knowledge that someone else has gone through the same battle that we’re facing, we don’t feel so alone.
